Second placed Casuals knew they were in for a tough afternoon as they hosted unbeaten league leaders St Ives. The visitors started well and, following a spell of sustained pressure which was well defended by the home side, took the lead through a tenth minute penalty. The Casuals then started to assert themselves and dominated the remainder of the half with Jannie Van Der Veter's 25th minute try converted by Schoeman giving the home side a deserved half time lead.

HT 7-3

The Casuals continued to outplay their higher placed opponents and were unlucky not to extend their lead with a forward pass preventing a fine move culminating in a deserved try. Although the Casuals had the majority of possesion and territory,St Ives defended well and it was not until ten minutes from time that the home side was able to further extend the lead with Jionny Schoeman slotting a penalty to extend the lead to seven. Unfortunately, it was not to be enough as the visitors first spell of sustained pressure saw them crash over for an injury time try with the resultant conversion bringing the scores level.
